Of all the chefs I’ve watched step into the global arena, most fall into two camps: the trailblazers chasing the new, and the traditionalists perfecting the old. While both have the tenacity to win a kitchen, there is a third type - the patriot - whose reach extends far beyond it.

The patriot’s greatest advantage isn’t innovation or mastery alone, but a pride rooted in where they come from: pots simmering on the stove; the commotion of family gathered around the table; aromas that unmistakably signal home. Early memories that shape a chef long before they ever step into service, teaching them not only how to cook, but why. These chefs move with something greater than personal ambition, wearing not their hearts on their sleeves, but their country’s flags. Guided by the kitchens and communities that shaped them, and by the responsibility of representing those flavors, values, and traditions wherever they cook.
