1. Invest in High Quality Garments.
Chefs Brigade has a
awesome range that will not break the bank. Bottom line,
better the quality of the fabric the longer they will last
and whiter your Chef coats will be. The waff and weft of
fabric is very important, the finer is the less fat, odor
permeation and stain deposits you will have.
2. All products containing Chlorine Bleach are a big NO NO,
these weaken. lighten and also yellow white
fabric, especially your coats. A good quality Chef coat
is cotton rich, meaning you need to be gentle, cotton fiber is
a natural product and will break down causing thinning over
time when abrasive detergents. Chlorine Bleach
products will also fade your piping over time.
3. Protein stains = always cold water wash, preferably soak
you Chef Coat overnight in a cold solution.
4. Always wash your white Chef coats separately, and
most importantly ensure no pens are left in your pockets.
5. Black or coloured Chef Coats, ensure your general
washing powder does not have
whiting and brightening
agent in it,
most do and you will see a blue or red fleck in
your detergent powder, don't use it. Over time the black will
fade out.
6. Do not tumble dry your Coats that have stains in, get all
the stains out first. The stain will set deeper in to the fabric
with the heat and it will become near impossible to remove.
7. Our best advice? Expect the unexpected.
Kitchens can be messy and spills and stains happen when
you are cooking up a storm. Keep a spare jacket on hand
and wear an apron! If your jacket is stained badly, soak it
asap in Steri Nappi overnight, it works like a dream.
